Mauritania: another Mediterranean Dialogue nation using NAMSA’s services

January 2010 - On 25 January 2010 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between NAMSO and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The MOU provides a framework agreement for future cooperative logistic support activities related to Trust Fund Projects for which NAMSA is the Executing Agent.

New Trust Fund Project in Jordan

November 2009 - A new Trust Fund demilitarization project in Jordan was launched on 19 November 2009 with the signature, at NATO HQ, of an Agreement between Italy (the lead nation for the funding) and NAMSA (the executive agent for the project).

Ukraine: Positive Step Forward in Ammunition Destruction

August 2009 - A contract for the demilitarization of 6,000 tonnes of conventional ammunition, including almost 30,000 cluster munitions, was signed between NAMSA, the Ukraine Ministry of Defence and the State Enterprise Ukroboronservice (UOS) in Kiev on Wednesday 26 August 2009.

By February 2010, NAMSA had completed 9 Trust Fund demilitarisation projects on schedule and is the Executing Agent for another 7 ongoing projects. Funding for these projects was provided by 24 NATO nations, 15 Partner nations, two contact nations and four international organizations.

Azerbaijan:
Clearance of 569 hectares of contaminated land and disposal of UXO
Kazakhstan:
Destruction of 27,000 SALW and 300 MANPADS
Moldova:
Repacking and centralized warehousing of 1,127 tons of dangerous chemicals
Ukraine:
Destruction of 400,000 SALW, 15,000 tons of  munitions and 1,000 MANPADS
Jordan:
Assistance in identifying and eliminating the Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) on the territory of Jordan, Construction of a Demilitarization Facility, Provision of a Propellant Surveillance Laboratory
Afghanistan:
Improving physical security and stockpile management of Afghan National Army ammunition stocks: includes building new storage and maintenance facilities; specialist training; planning future stock levels

Albania I:
Destruction of 1,600,000 landmines
Albania II:
Destruction of 11,500 tons of SALW ammunition
Belarus:
Destruction of 700,000 landmines
Georgia I:
Destruction of 526 high-altitude anti-aircraft missiles and 45 warheads
Georgia II:
Destruction of 1,080 S-8 Air-to-Surface unguided missiles, 5,724 Alazan and 1,976 Kristall anti-hail rockets
Moldova:
Destruction of 325 tons of rocket fuel oxidizer (Melanj), 12,000 landmines and 300 tons of munitions
Serbia:
Destruction of 1,400,000 landmines
Serbia and Montenegro:
Destruction of 28,000 SALW
Ukraine:
Destruction of 400,000 landmines
